£25,000 in the bank, yet a North London woman manages
to filch the benefits system out of £75,000! And, then she gets a
12-month sentence - suspended of course. The 'un-earned income' was made up of Housing Benefits of £46,690, Income Support of £19,800 and of course, council tax benefit of £6,557! The lady from Harrow in North London UK, was told by the judge that she had been "Thoroughly dishonest". by making these claims! |
Some 'sneak' grassed her up by letting on that she had £25,000 savings in the bank! Without that tip-off, one wonders if Harrow Council would have ever found out. £75k gone missing! So? Well done Harrow.
In fairness to the lady, she has in fact re-paid £55,250!
As well as the suspended sentence for this benefit fraud, she is confined to her house with a curfew for 6 months - 7.00am to 7.00pm. Poor dear!An East Waterboro woman who obtained $2,878 (£1665.00) of welfare benefits by deceiving the Department of Health and Human Services back in 2006 has been sentenced to three months inside for persuading the government to give her welfare benefits to which she was not entitled! In fact two years, but with twenty one months suspended! There are new charges pending. Basically she hid her earnings and work, whilst applying for benefits. If she is convicted of new criminal charges after her release while on probation, she could be forced to serve more of the sentence. Attorney General Steve Rowe said "Dishonest applicants who seek to defraud public benefit programs are stealing from both taxpayers, who financially support the system, and honest recipients, who rely on the support the programs provide."
