16th November 2008 A Brighton Mother used her falsely claimed state handouts to send her daughter to top private school. £35,000 was claimed falsely by way of housing benefits, council tax and income support. Pretending that she was unemployed - and so able to claim various benefits - she actually had a range of jobs. Sometimes three jobs at the same time as ripping off the council and taxpayer. Ironically, she was being paid by the taxpayer for one of her jobs - as a hospital nursing assistant. |
The woman pleaded guilty of fifteen charges of fraudulently claiming benefits - mainly from City of Hove and Brighton Council.
Two different national Insurance numbers were the giveaway that started the investigation.
