Homes and Housing Benefits and finance.

Someone somewhere has to take responsibility for the appalling maladministration of a system of housing benefits that sees a homeless family being housed in a home built for, and normally lived in, by wealthy owners!

Enough 'shock horror' by the tabloid and not-so-tabloid newspapers. You cannot blame the unfortunate homeless family that were given a house of many people's dreams. it is the ludicrous system of housing benefits that is to blame. The current government has been in power for ten or so years now, with Brown steering all financial policy during that time. In a normal business, the head would roll. In this case is simply sits upon hunched shoulders of the incumbent prime minister who is mainly responsible for this shambles.

The case in West London is not an isolated case. Such housing benefits fiascos are to be found in all parts of the UK. The basic fact is, that if a family becomes homeless, then the local authority is responsible - in law - for providing that family with suitable housing accommodation.

That law  was passed by central government and the effects - directly and indirectly - are paid for by the taxpayer.

In some cases, the annual rent of these houses - provided for by housing benefits - would build a couple of decent homes. Something, somewhere is very very wrong about this present housing benefits system.

Get off the back of the recipients, and shout about this wasteful government that allows such an idiotic housing benefits system to flourish!
