Civil Servants and HM Forces overseas - Information about your rights to the Pregnancy Grant.

Crown Servants who are posted overseas, should be entitled to the Health in Pregnancy Grant - a one-off payment over and above any other benefits - and it is tax free!

As an overseas posted Crown Servant - civil service and HM forces - the grant is available after the 25th week of pregnancy. There are a few rules that you need to satisfy in order to receive this grant during an overseas posting.
  • You will need to be 25 weeks or more into your pregnancy.
  • You are getting advice from your doctor or midwife about health during pregnancy.

ALSO

  • Immediately before your overseas posting, you will have been living in the UK - as an ordinary resident. That means that you were living there - not just visiting.

AND

  • If you have a partner who has been posted abroad, and you have gone to live with them, you are entitled to the grant, if you meet all the other conditions.

How to Claim

  • HM Armed forces from your Forces Medical centre
  • Civil Servants will need to contact the Helpline for Health in Pregnancy.
