Over 60's stand to lose out with new rules changes for claiming Pension Credits. It all changes on October 8th 2008  ACT NOW!

New Rules for backdating Pension Credits Benefits

The government has shown yet again, that it gives scant regard to the problems often suffered by older people.  They accept the fact that those over 60 will lose money with the new rules to be introduced on October 6th 2008. At the same time, the government will save millions - of course! yes, it may mean that we have an easier system of claiming - in the future - but those caught out in the changeover stand to lose

Many people over the age of 60 are still not claiming the benefits they might be entitled to. This can normally be backdated 12 months, but from the 8th October 2008, the backdating will only be for 3 months. This could mean a loss in backdated benefit  averaging £1600 for those who claim pension credit, and also claim money off their council tax.

Some older people tend to put off filling in forms and seeking help. If they do not get their claim in by October 8th, then they will lode out up to 9 months back dated benefits.

If you know anyone who may be in this situation - PLEASE HELP them to get their claim in before Oct 8th 2008
